Dance group dazzles audiences with pizazz

The Dazzling Diamonds give their all to energize the Crimson Lions

They are one of the most entertaining organizations on McClellan’s campus. Always turning heads with their vibrant moves and sequined tights, these girls give moxie a whole new level of meaning.  When the Crimson Lions take the field and the court, they add their own spirit and class to the marching band’s performance. Dance, dance, dance! That’s what it’s all about for the Dazzling Diamonds!

In this interview, captain Jacky Conway, and co-captain Serah Ardion share their thoughts on what makes the Dazzling Diamonds who they really are.

Q: How do you think that the name “Dazzling Diamonds fits the squad’s appearance, personality and style?

Jackie: I think we worked hard for our name and we weren’t always the Dazzling Diamonds. It hasn’t come easy but we have tried to make it look that way. That’s part of the magic that happens when we work together as a team

Serah: When you’re a Diamond, it has a way of bringing out the best in you.

Q: Do you think that all the practice you do pays off in the end?

 Jackie: Yes, practice makes perfect.

Serah: Most definitely, we put so much hard work into our performances.

Q: If you could change “ANYTHING” about the Dazzlin’ Diamonds, what would it be?

 Jackie: No, Nothing at all.

Serah: Nothing, everything we have done has proven to be perfect.

Q: How do you think your spectacular uniforms affect your performance?

Jackie: I think the uniforms give us a boost of self-esteem. People really seem to like our look.

Serah: They only add appearance; we define ourselves, not our uniforms.

Q: Do you think your coach is pushing you too hard?

Jackie: Not at all! We know that Mr. Carter want us to be our best, and we’re up to the challenge.

Serah: he wants us to work up to our potential and we’re willing to do what it  takes.

Q:  How do you prepare yourself before a big performance?

Jackie: We make sure that we know every count, and practice regularly.

Serah: We make sure that we are all together in every way.

Q: Anything else?

Jackie: We are ladies, and ladies are what we will continue to be.

Serah: Dancing Diamonds is not only a dance team, it’s an organization. The squad really didn’t know each other very well at all. Over time, the squad got closer and developed a sisterhood.  We have our individuality but there’s one thing we all agree on, being a diamond equals being the best.
